La fête continue

Chers amis,

Monday 29.07. Bouldering & Berlin Water Promenade

We will go to climb!

In the nicest and one of the oldest boulder gyms of the city: the ostbloc (german for the Eastern Bloc). You can find the address here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/sUsXarqFoAXrAoky5, Hauptstraße 13, 10317 Berlin.

This place located in a former dockyard, just next to the beautiful river Spree in front of the Treptower Park. Even if you don't feel like climbing, just enjoy the nice lakeside, have a nice coffee or a short walk around and a chat with us. If you wanna try out boulder climbing for the first time, let us know and you can also rent shoes in the place. If you arrive before 2 pm, you will pay a reduce entrance fee of 7€, instead of 10€.

From the gym, we will walk along the river into Berlin City East and show you some of Martin's favorite spots and hidden gems. If the weather holds we can finish with a Döner Kebab (or veggie version) at the river, enjoying the sunset. Otherwise, we will finish in a rainproof bar in the neighboring quarters.

Get in touch with us, if you also wanna join later or after work, to keep up with the plans of the day.

Tuesday 30.07. Bicycle Sightseeing Tour

Berlin is a very extensive, but also very flat city. It has a lot to see, but those spots are sometimes quite apart. And taking those routes by bikes, allows you to see the hidden gems in between. In addition, the very special history of two cities separating and merging back into one, you can only grasp with your own eyes. So let's take a bike to discover that.

So either bring your own bike, ask a friend, or contact us, until the day before latest, so we can organize a rental bike for you.

Meeting point: S-Bahn Station Warschauer Strasse (the big white S on green ground)

Let's see how far we make it, but we will definitely make some delicious stops in between.

Get in touch with us, if you also wanna join later or after work, to keep up with the plans of the day.

Wednesday 31.07. Berlin is Museum

To be decided...

Berlin has plenty of museums uniquely focusing in ancient history  at the Museum Island, and great contemporary and technical arts (even a computer game museum). In addition, museums covering the heavy heritage of the Wall, Concentration Camps and the Jewish life in Europe.

If you have personal favorites, let us know and we will adapt to that.

Thursday 01.08. Food and Cinema

1st Part:

Berlin is food and (multi-)culture. So let's discover the Eastern part of that. As described in the history section, Berlin has received influences from very different cultures to blend into something new. One major inflence came from Vietnam. So we should try some good and nearly original Vietnamese food. Let's meet at 2 pm at the Dong-Xuan-Center. After the authentic food, we can have a walk through the bazaar like halls and you can get fresh and authentic Vietnamese ingredients for your home kitchen...

After that, we can have some discovery of socialist housing neighborhoods and discuss, what western city developers actually could have learned from the Eastern Block...

2nd part:

Berlin is full of parks and already in the continental climate zone. So that allows the people, to spend most of the summer outdoors without suffering from ether too much heat or too much rain, while having comparably long days.

So, outdoor-cinema is an established cultural activity in the summer. So, bring your pick-nick basket and enjoy and discuss a movie with us

Cinema, Movie and Time, still to be chosen....

Friday 02.08.Friday 02.08. Berlin West

Part 1:

As Martin is not too familiar with this part of the city, it might not end as planned. At 2 pm we meet in Hermannplatz and discover the Turkish and Syrian neighborhoods for some lunch. From there, we walk towards and trough the Tempelhof Park (an urban park the size of New York's Central Park), watching the longest building of the world holding even more history. From there, we can discover the Berlin City West in various and spontaneous ways.

Part 2:

At 5 pm, we stop the Neues Café (https://maps.app.goo.gl/fb55fHNfDYsLvuXf6), between the Tiergarten and the West Berlin Zoo (you even see the zoo animals while passing). It is a great place to discover the German beergarden culture of finishing the work week. Feel more than welcome to join us there also!

Get in touch with us, if you also wanna join later or after work, to keep up with the plans of the day.
